Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF), Earth Journalism Network and The Third Pole launched the Bhutan Forum for Environment Journalists in Thimphu today.

The forum will help Bhutanese media professionals report environmental issues effectively by providing opportunities for training and a space for journalists to share ideas and experiences.

BMF and Earth Journalism Network will support the forum by developing training materials, and supporting the production and distribution of contents through grants.

Bhutan is one of the few countries with a constitutional provision that requires the government and the people to protect, conserve and promote the country’s natural environment.

Director of BMF, Dawa Penjor, said the media must influence behaviour change and support good policies that balance growth with sustainability and human rights, reported the Bhutan Observer.
